Do you ever look at the day of the week and think "huh?" Okay, ridciulous question I know, but it still surprises me that it surprises me when I do. Got that? I am constantly wondering where the days/week went as I pull my weary body up the stairs and grab a bowl of cereal and throw myself dramatically across the couch. Since there is no one there to appreciate my performance, I really am doing it for Brooklyn's sake in hopes that she considers becoming a contributing member of the household. Doggie day care isn't free dog, and there was a dancing poodle on the Strip last week who from the looks of the collection bin, makes more money than I do. Just something to think about my sweet puppy.
Especially since this little box has been sitting on my kitchen counter since Monday. You know I am distracted if I let this beauty sit unopened.....
Pretty thrilling right? I debated for a bit and even considered the 5D Mk II, but in the end I somehow decided that I absolutely, positively, needed to be able to shoot 8 frames per second and have such an advanced auto-focusing system. Apparently it was more important than a full frame, but part of me fears deep down that I would have been more thrilled with the higher ISO range of the 5D Mk II. Why do they make technology decisions so difficult?
I don't have any opinions on my decision quite yet since I haven't had time to flip through this little guy...
A camera that requires 450 pages to elaborate on user interface and functionality scares me just a tiny bit. I'll let you know how the camera is once I get the courage to figure out how to use it.
And finally, the quilt. I get e-mails periodically asking about the progress of this. If I were a betting woman I would place my money on completion within the next year or two. I did not realize how truly boring it is to quilt 64 really long straight lines. Ugh. But there is a bit of progress....the goal is a few lines per week. :)
Heather Bailey fabrics are so yummy though....
The dog with no marketable skills or wares unless sheer puppy cuteness can be bottled and sold.

The 7D tops my birthday and christmas list. I've only heard rave reviews but am looking forward to hearing how you like yours!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Heather Bailey fan but I just collect her fabrics and fold them up. They look pretty awesome sitting in my crafting room though!
ReplyDeleteI bought the 7D myself and LOVE it. I can't believe I lived without it for so long. I think it will have that impact on you as well. And my friend who is a professional photographer has one along with her 5D and she says she takes the 7D on vacation with her since it's more versatile. But the ISO on the 5D is to die for!
I think the whole point of crafts is to enjoy the process so I think its perfectly ok to take a year to complete a project. I love that quilt!
ReplyDeleteIf only puppies could earn a living, I'd be so much wealthier.
I spend a lot of time surprised buy what week it is let alone day so I definitely hear you on that.
ReplyDeleteCutie puppy! Is she a Boston or a Frenchie? I really like smooshy face dogs but the hubs is allergic.
It makes me want to sew a quilt. And then I walk outside and the wall of 100 degree humidity hits me in the face. Gorgeous though!
ReplyDeleteAnd jealous of the camera but that book makes me think I should start with one of the easier rebels instead. Is the 7D too much for a beginner do you think?
I'm always surprised at how fast the week flies by. And forget pouring a bowl of cereal, I'm lucky to grab the box on my way down onto the couch. Reaching for the remote is too much work. Someday I'll work from home and be chillax.
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt!(and the camera is pretty snazzy too! cna't wiat to see pictures!)
The quilt is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've been eyeing teh 7d for ages but haven't justified the cost yet but hoping maybe Christmas!
Thanks all for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteLynette--she is a Boston but one of her best friends at camp is a frenchie and they look a lot alike! :)
Emma Jane--I haven't really played with the camera yet but I did notice that it doesn't have any of fully automatic presets for sports, landscape, portrait etc that the rebel or xxD lines have. It probably helps to know a bit about aperture or shutter priority in the least. It could force you learn pretty quickly though. :)
Cuteness should be a marketable skill. It works for Miss Teen USA. Perhaps there should be a Miss Teen Puppy USA.
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilt!
I've been thinking about upgrading my 30D to the 7D. Can't wait to hear about how much you like yours!
ReplyDeleteThat is one sweet little puppy face!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear more about the camera! It is funny how cameras are all about technology these days. It's like waiting for the newest iPhone or iPad release. Should I wait or should I buy? What will the new version have and what will it start at.
cupcake wars is one of my favorite shows!
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy colorful quilt!
So this isn't the camera you brought to Cali? I just assumed by the way my arm almost broke when I picked it up that it was the newest member of your camera family. I still have never read my camera book - or the camera book for dummies I bought to go with it. Guess that's why mine never look as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE the quilt, it is so cheery!!
ReplyDeleteI just about passed out when I saw the quilt. For, I, too, am making a quilt. And if you haven't guessed, it is in the EXACT same colors. Sometimes it is just a bit creepy.
ReplyDeleteI have been contemplating a new camera and lens for some time now, my pictures are horrid and on occasion I hate to come to your blog because I am so jealous of your photos. (While admiring them at the same time)
You say it may take you several more years to finish your quilt, I plan to be buried with my half finished quilt.
